HOW TO VOLUNTEER

So What Can I Do?
We often have people email the League asking what they can do. The simplest response is to talk to you family, friends, and neighbors about voting. There is often a lot of confusion around voting, which if unchecked can lead to suspicion about the voting process. Our chapter can equip you with facts about the voting process in Camden County so that you can reassure voters and also tell them how they themselves can become advocates for their vote (for example, attending county Board of Elections meetings which are open to the public!).

If you would like to get more involved, we have a number of activities to choose from. We pride ourselves on offering opportunities whether you have a few minutes a week or hours a day!
  • Vote411.org voter information page including polling locations, candidate profiles, and more - we need help each election with chasing down non-responsive candidates and advertising the service in our communities
  • Candidate forum moderating: the League provides moderator training so that you can help facilitate a candidate forum, including specialized instructions for virtual forums
  • Census: our chapter has been active in promoting responses to the 2020 Census and we'd love your help! Contact us to learn more
  • Vote by Mail education: In what has become one of the most surprisingly divisive issues of 2020, the League is happy to help guide voters through the vote by mail process, including explaining their in-person voting options and the implications of going to the polls
  • Phone banking: LWVNJ spearheads an effort to call registered voters in New Jersey and make sure they know what they need to do to cast their vote; phone banking is non-partisan.
  • Review the information on our frequently asked questions (FAQ) page https://www.lwvccnj.org/voter-faqs.html.  Then you'll be up to date with current information when people ask! Check back regularly, or ask us (lwvccnj@gmail.com) to be placed on our mailing list.
  • Some of the above is open to anyone who wants to help, but to take full advantage of opportunities to work with the League, consider joining!  https://www.lwvccnj.org/join-the-league.html. First year membership is only $25 and buys you membership in the local, state, and national levels of the League. Note -- the LWVCC welcomes (and has quite a few) members from nearby counties without their own League, especially Gloucester County. If you live in Atlantic (https://www.facebook.com/LeagueAC/) or Burlington (http://www.lwvburlco.org/) Counties they have active Leagues of their own.
